About Me

I thought I could start off this blog with a little About Me section.

Well, before I go into the 'About Me,' specifcially section, maybe I should start off with the about this blog section. Primarily, why the blog is named the way it's named.

Ozymandias is one of my favorite poems ever. Written by Percy Bysshe Shelley, it was first published in 1818. I like this poem because I find it to be such a poignant reminder of how fleeting life is. And when I say life, I'm not necessarily talking about life as in an individual's lifespan, but I supppose it could encompass that too. What I mean is that Ozymandias is a hauntingly beautiful precaution that everything fades away. Even that which seems so powerful and colossal and splendid will eventually return to dust. So I chose that name because I think it prudent to remember that so much of what we chase will someday cease to exist.

I chose that name for this blog specifically because I want to chronicle my thoughts and judgements and opinions somewhere but I also want to make sure to remind myself that while I shouldn't be ashamed of myself, it's also important to have a healthy dose of humility along with it.

So Ozymandias, my blog, was born.

But here is a little more about me, the actual person, behind the blog.

  • I am married to a wonderful man and we have been married for a little over two years.

  • We live on the west coast of the United States, in a medium-sized town close to a river, which has many wonderful spots for walks and trails for biking.

  • We have three wonderful dogs and an adorable cat. The dogs' names are Lili, Luna, and Dobby, a German Shepherd, a Pit Bull mix, and a Husky respectivelly. The cat's name is Minerva and we're not exactly sure what type of cat she is, but maybe a tabby mixed with tortoiseshell and/or calico? Regardless of what she is, we love her and our three dogs too.

  • I love, love to read! It's one of my favorite things to do and I wish I had more time to do it.

  • I currently work as a substitute teacher and I'm thinking of becoming a SPED teacher.

  • I also really like to cook and I'm proud to say, I'm pretty good at it. I won't ever become a professional, but I do make a lasagna that is beloved by everyone who tastes it.

  • I am in OCIA, which is the process by which an adult joins the Catholic Church. My faith is very important to me and I'm trying to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling.
I can't think of anything else to write at the moment, so I'll conclude for now. :)

(I'm also a massive fan of Calvin and Hobbes and have been for over 20 years! In general I'm a fan of comic strips, such as Foxtrot, Get Fuzzy, Dilbert, Peanuts, Zits, Pearls Before Swine, and so many more.)
